I suggest you ...

add more details to the source signup form: what source is.

The sources, I assume, are supposed to be experts in particular fields. How does giving my name, email, and company give you any indication of that? I'm a professor. If I tell you at what university I work, you still won't know what I am a professor *of*.

Also I will look for user feedback and adjust the categories accordingly to the volume in each. So far the categories I will include are:

        1. General
        2. Business and Finance
        3. Technology
        4. Travel
        5. Lifestyle
        6. Healthcare

Any other category suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I will be incorporating a version of this into the new site. It will work like this:

-Sources will have to sign up for a certain category they are an expert in. I will try and make it so that they can check off multiple categories in one sign up, but worse comes to worse they will have to sign up for each category they are an expert in.

-Journalists and reporters will have to select only one category to send the media request through and the media request will only reach that specific list of sources.

Sources could be specific experts like an astronomy professor, but it is the responsibility of the sources to review the email requests to see if they can add value to the reporter or journalist. They are the 'relevance filter' of the system. By assigning sources a specific expertise, you are creating a more 'human-intensive' (for lack of a better word) and biased way to create a match between the two. Anyone who signs up to be a source has the ability to contribute to a quality media inquiry (and not just the astronomy professor). It might even create a better balanced story.

In this way we only have to monitor the complaints from journalists and reporters who are getting unhelpful/irrelevant information from sources. I hope that makes sense. I really enjoy your feedback and welcome any other comments or thoughts.
